Sacromonte - a unique and picturesque neighbourhood
Don't miss out on this unique and picturesque neighborhood of the Granadian Gipsies, who settled in Granada after the Christian conquest of the city in 1492. For us, at La Almunia del Valle, it is a must-see.
The lifestyle of the gypsies, their language "Caló", their festivals and dances, and the fact that they excavated their homes on the slopes, made many romantic travelers write about Sacromonte. Poets, novelists, painters, musicians ... all were bewitched by this neighborhood and told and sang its glories throughout the centuries. Since then, many visitors came to this place, increasing even more its legend. What remains of that era are just some cave-houses, which are organized zambras a tourist character.
