Where we always want to return.
We all keep in our memory a place where we always want to return. The place where our minds flies to when we are at work. The one we remember by sharing with friends our photos. In which we always imagine ourselves at a time of the day. The hotel or little house that miles away that we miss. Its surroundings, the views and the route that took us back every night.
The place that invites us, again and again, to come back, because always, surely, we find what we were looking for.
It is simply that: the memories, the good times lived and shared, the afternoons filled with sun and nights with moon. The sound of the sea that tastes like salt and fresh air. The breeze of the mountains, the walks, the locals, their bars and squares. To all this is where we always want to come back.
We take for granted that, also, we incorporate travels to lots of other different destinations, perhaps further away, surely more exotic and probably more captivating. All of them wonderful, full of surprises and adventures. The seduction of the unknown is addictive to many of us.
Because the need to know, discover, to see how far we can reach is, without any doubt, the DNA of the traveler.
But now, it is another house that occupies my mind. I have been thinking for days about the reviews and comments of my guests. Couples that come regularly to the hotel or have been here in the past and now remember that the always wanted to come back.
They all mention the same: the spaces that they expect to find again, the same ambience, feeling, that surrounds the rooms every day; that same view that they enjoy from their room.
They expect to find familiar faces, that say hello to them in a familiar way, and may even mention an anecdote that occurred last time they were together. They will remember the recipe they took and how different it tasted in their country. The flavor of the olive oil and bread during the morning.
And I realize that they are also us. They are La Almunia. They have left their mark in creating this place. To make it what it is. To preserve and carry it in our memories. And they come back. They want us to take care of it. To find its essence each time they come back.
And that is what we are doing, I can guarantee you. Even though things may be difficult sometimes, here we are.
So long friends!
